The mission of the Firehawks is to develop a true and lasting love and passion for the game of lacrosse. The Firehawks are dedicated to developing lacrosse skills, good sportsmanship, teamwork, accountability and respect in a healthy and fun environment. As one of the most competitive clubs in the Bay Area, we also teach the advanced skills needed to succeed at the next level of high school lacrosse and competitive travel teams.
Come out and watch us in action, and see the FIRE and passion in our players and their love for the game, its tradition and culture of respect and giving back to the community.
Registration for Fall Ball is now open for both new and returning players. Registration is on a first come, first served basis until our registration is full. No prior experience is necessary.
Fall Ball serves two purposes. First, we use Fall Ball to introduce new players to the game of lacrosse, as well as introduce them to the Firehawks Lacrosse Club. We throw new players "into the fire" (so to speak) as we spend half of each session teaching skills and the other half scrimmaging. New players quickly learn the sport and have fun doing it!
Second, Fall sessions serve as tryouts for Spring teams and are open to all players, regardless of skill level. Registration for Spring 2016 teams will be by invite only based on Fall evaluations. We anticipate having more interested players than we will have available spots on Spring teams, so if your son or daughter is interested in playing on a Spring 2016 team they should attend as many Fall sessions as possible.
We will have 8 fall sessions on Saturdays and Sundays only from the end of September - mid-November. All sessions will be held at Sequoia High School. The final practice times and dates are being worked on now and will be finalized shortly. Most likely U13 and U15 boys, and all girls teams, will practice on Saturdays from 9 am - 5 pm, and Firestarters, U7 boys, U9 boys and U11 boys will practice on Sundays from 9 am - 3 pm. We will confirm the times as soon as our permit applications are approved.
We have an outstanding group of professional coaches who will be running Fall Ball for both boys and girls. We also expect to bring in top college and professional players as guest coaches.
We will have the following age groups in the Fall. The age cut off for each group is August 31.
Firestarters - 5-6 year olds, co-ed, brand new to the sport. Sticks and tennis balls, no gear.
U7 boys - 5-6 year olds who have played a year of Firestarters or are more skilled players who are ready for full gear.
U9 boys and girls - can't turn 9 before August 31
U11 boys and girls - can't turn 11 before August 31
U13 boys and girls - can't turn 13 before August 31
U15 boys and girls - can't turn 15 before August 31
